Why not try God? You'll like Him!

I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. 

I will constantly speak of his glories and grace. 

I will boast of all his kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. 

Let us praise the Lord together, and exalt his name. 

For I cried to him and he answered me! 

He freed me from all my fears. 

Others too were radiant at what he did for them.

Suppose I give God a try, and then find out I don't like it? I don't want to get into this thing too deep! I don't want to become a Jesus freak or anything like that! That's just too heavy for me! 

The greatest thing about God is that He is willing to meet us wherever we are and then make Himself real to us. I think that you want to get to know God. In fact, there is a God-shaped" need in all of us only God can fit. 

I spent a lot of my life trying to fill up my God-shaped need with everything but God. One day He was able to get me to take another look at Him. We became friends. 

And we've been growing together ever since. What made it possible for me to get to know God was the realization that I need Him. that it was God for whom I'd been looking all along. Then I slowly allowed Him to scrap all my preconceived ideas. 

I've learned that God is LOVE. He loves me as I am. I had always thought a person had to keep the Ten Commandments and be pious in order to be saved. Not so. That's the way I'd been going at it. 

I discovered that God wanted to give me a new heart and a new Spirit. His Spirit! which would cause me to keep that law I'd never been able to keep by myself.

Read Ezekiel 36 

I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 

Iwill put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. 

Since then I have grown in the knowledge that God is responsible for me. John 10 telIs us we are like a bunch of crazy sheep that need a shepherd. I have grown in the joy of the Lord. 

In fact, Nehemiah 8:10 says that the joy of the Lord is my strength. And that is for sure true. The idea that Christianity is duII and boring is a false picture. 

Believe it or not, but I personally have never had so much fun as I've had since becoming a Christian. I‘ve never known so many people that experience so much real happiness as Christians do! God doesn't want cookie-cutter Christians. Only in the Christian community do I become free to be what God really wants me to be. 

Jesus came (John 10 again) so that I might have life more abundantly. God wants me to be happy. I've discovered that it makes Him happy to see me happy! 

If you don't want to become a Jesus freak, you can trust God not to make you one. If you want to discover life in a real vibrant way, you can trust that God will introduce you to it. God wants you so much that He is willing to make tremendous efforts to see you are at peace with Him. He will reach out to you a miIIion ways until you realize that He loves you as you are. 

I am so confident that God loves you that I'll go out on a limb and guarantee His willingness to meet you where you are. Just tell Him you don't know if you really want to get into this thing too deepIy, but that you would really like to meet im. You'd like to get to know Him, why not give Him a try?

 I know God will reveal Himself to you. And in a way you can understand. I know He will, because I am praying for you.
